About Yulia
I am a UCL (University of London) graduate with a 2.1 degree in Environmental Geography and an Oil&Gas Environmental Scientist and Engineer with nearly 10 years of experience, but also with a big passion for teaching. I am also a bilingual Russian and English speaker and tutor, having acquired 2 years' of experience tutoring Russian and having achieved 100% in my English Language and Literature A-Levels, so I look forward to helping you or your child with Russian, Geography, Science, Chemistry and English. :)

My aim is to encourage every student to achieve their full potential and 97% and reach A/A*/Level 6-9. My lessons are bespoke and the pace of the curriculum is set accordingly. If the student can guarantee regular attendance and is serious about putting in the hard work to achieve results, then I will definitely be able to help. One-off lessons are not recommended and a minimum of six weeks commitment is required to see any improvements.
I cater my lesson plans according to the exam-board (e.g. AQA, Edexcel). I am an enthusiastic tutor and dedicated to helping achieve results.
I tailor my tutoring approach to the Russian learning objectives of the student, but generally, having had lots of experience learning new languages myself, I find that immersion into the language is the surest and quickest approach to learning. For this reason, I like to combine learning theory through textbook teaching with plenty of speaking practice as you would do if you found yourself in that country (Russia, in this case).

I have studied in England since the age of 11, which allowed me to have mastered the learning system here very well. As a result, I have achieved the best grades in the 100-year-long history of my school at GCSE, after just 4 years of beginning to learn the English language.
Due to good results at GCSE, I was then able to go on to a Grammar school (Southend High School for Boys) to successfully complete my A-levels in Geography, Chemistry, English Language and Literature, and Russian (including a 100% score in English A-Level) and then onto University.
I absolutely love the process of learning and achieving goals and helping others achieve theirs is something I get a real kick out of, so it is my passion to share that skill for studying and achieving goals with those currently keen to do well at school or to improve their performance in Geography (GCSE and A-Level), Science (GCSE), Chemistry (GCSE and A-Level), English (GCSE and A-level) or Russian (all levels, including the Russian language part of a Russian degree).
In my degree and during my career as an Environmental Scientist, I have used GIS extensively as well for mapping, analysis and a little bit of pragramming, so I can also tutor this subject as well.
I am also a bilingual native Russian and English speaker, having lived in Russia for most of the first half of my life, with lots of experience learning languages myself (English, Russian, Spanish, some German, and recently, some Mandarin, during my tea travels in China).
Having worked in the Environmental and Oil&Gas industries, I have realised that I would like to make a bigger impact than I was working for a consultancy, so I started my 1st business venture with my brother and my partner 5 years ago - transferring my passion for good tea into a company. Having grown it, I am now a full-time tea sourcer and curator by day, who is passionate about learning languages, travelling and making this world a better place, one little bit at a time. The world can not be a better place without young adults succeeding in their studies for starters, hence I decided to help improve this through tutoring.
I have taught a student Russian for a couple of years whilst studying at UCL, mostly twice a week, for an hour each time. I have also taught Russian to a group of 5 - 10 students whilst studying at school as a volunteer.
In my spare time, I love videography and photography, travel, and am very passionate about healthy living, and eating in particular (since my parents are doctors, I can become EXTREMELY geeky about this one and love to research different scientific studies and to really dig down to the core of what's truly optimal for us as human beings :) This is where my knowledge of the sciences always comes in handy), plant-based cooking, the Environment and business. And, of course, I'm extremely passionate about tea and seeing others do well in studies! :)

Yulia helped me to learn Russian for approximately a year while she was studying at UCL. I already had some knowledge of the language but needed to advance my learning. She is friendly, supportive, patient and has a clear idea of how Russian functions. All this helped me to learn quicker and to enjoy her tuition. She is a native Russian speaker and I have no doubt she has the skills and attributes to be an excellent tutor.
I have known Yulia for 9 years now. She has always been friendly and passionate about learning, being a Geographer and Environmental Scientist and loving to learn languages, so I believe she will make a good tutor.
