My name is Yiota, a Psychology graduate who's been actively involved in education the last 3 years.I have been working in various schools around Hackney including Morningside, Millfields,Sir Thomas Abney and many more.
I am an experienced primary tutor and I have often supported children with ASD, ADHD as well as children with challenging behaviours.
One of my first goals is to create a bond with the children I work with, as I believe it is very important to create rapport. This allows me to find out about their interests and the things that motivate them. I aspire to make lessons fun , creative and productive. i create my own resources and differentiate according to the child's needs.
I am enthusiastic to use the knowledge I have gained from my main studies in Psychology, which has given me the knowledge and experience to help children with special needs and behavioural issues to build their social skills and empower them to express their knowledge and ideas effectively. My degree covered a wide range of education units including, educational psychology, developmental psychology, behavioural psychology, counselling applications in education and diagnostic assessment.
My MA in Philosophy and Performing arts has given me the tools to encourage children to develop their creativity as well as an interest in art. I have participated in a lot of art groups, especially art therapy and a lot of courses on teaching methods strongly connected to art..I believe that philosophy and art allow students to learn about themselves, their culture, their community and help them to trigger imagination and creativity which are essential to the students' personal development.
