About Vanda
I am a qualified teacher and tutor with a total of 7 combined years of experience in the education sector. I undertook my PGCE at Goldsmith's University and specialised in Secondary Science. I am now a science teacher based in a school in North London, teaching pupils aged 11-18 chemistry, biology and physics to GCSE and Biology to A-level, having previously worked in an inner-city London school. I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher and am passionate about helping young people to understand and enjoy science. I encourage pupils to think on their own, scaffolding their learning in a structured way so they have the confidence and self-belief to make progress on their own. Tutoring allows me to have for the 1-1 teaching contact that young people so often need in order to reach their potential.

One-on-one tutoring
I have extensive experience working with students on a one-on-one basis. This has included helping students with science fundamentals and gaps in their knowledge as well as preparing pupils for demanding exams at A-level.
Revision sessions
I have led a variety of different revision sessions for GCSE and A-level pupils. These have been made up of group and individual exercises designed to cover the basics of a topic as well as building upon and consolidating the student’s pre-existing understanding. These sessions have helped several struggling students gain confidence before taking their final exam.
Academic mentoring
Whilst at Central Foundation Girls' School, I was given the responsibility of looking after the academic and pastoral needs of a number of pupils. On the academic side, this involved monitoring the progress of the student using reports and grades, speaking to their teachers on a regular basis about how the student is doing, developing plans to improve in subjects causing difficulty and pushing them to consistently achieve above and beyond their potential throughout the academic year.
