I have completed the Certificate in Italian Language Teaching to Adults. This involved developing a wide range of teaching skills such as designing lessons at the appropriate level, selecting and producing applicable materials and aids, managing groups effectively and teaching with sensitivity to the learners’ needs, interests and backgrounds.
As a private teacher, I developed a very good understanding of teaching students both one-to-one and in groups. Working as a Visiting Lecturer in Italian at Regent’s University, London gave me the opportunity to begin to obtain the skills for working in a university environment.
I can adapt my methodology to the needs and learning abilities of different students and I am able to build supportive relationships with my students, creating enjoyable learning environments. I enjoy interpersonal contact and find exchanging ideas with colleagues stimulating and an opportunity for self-development. While working at Regent’s University and at libraries, being part of a team and conceiving ideas together was particularly stimulating. Also in my Teacher Training Course, a fundamental part was teamwork, planning lessons side by side with colleagues in order to develop the best possible lesson. Being a teacher as well as a librarian requires making decisions by myself and being extremely organised. I structure each day’s work in order to be effective and efficient.
In addition to my teaching and librarian experiences, I also worked as a Visitor Assistant Volunteer at Greenwich Foundation Old Royal Naval College for six months. I ensured all visitors had a warm welcome and the best possible experience at the ORNC. During those months, I met and successfully engaged with people from all over the world, with different needs and cultures
