I tailor my tutoring style to suit the student and subject, though my starting point is always questions, prompts and guiding steers.
Lessons with older students will often follow the format of an Oxford tutorial, beginning from a discussion of a topic or source material (whether the student's essay or a set text) and then moving into application of that knowledge through note-making, essay planning or interrogation of another text.
