About Tina
I have over seven years’ experience privately tutoring maths with a variety of students at Primary, KS3, GCSE, A-Level and degree level. I am a University of Bath Graduate with First Class Honours in Mathematical Sciences, which included modules in both pure and applied Mathematics as well as in Computer Science and Physics.
In addition to running 1-to-1 and small group sessions over the years, during my final year of University, I was employed by the University of Bath as an academic tutor for a class of sixteen first-year undergraduates and was awarded a certificate of recognition for outstanding tuition. Prior to this, I tutored and mentored GCSE and AS Level students whilst at secondary school as a Maths Prefect and completed work experience at both primary and secondary schools, observing and assisting in maths lessons.
From my own experience as a maths undergraduate, and as a tutor, maths can be a daunting and difficult subject but with the right guidance and support to understand the material it can be incredibly engaging, rewarding and even fun! As well as feeling accomplished from improved grades, a number of my students have gone on to study maths at A-Level and degree level as a result of our sessions; an international student went on to pass the entrance exams for her university of choice; and I have helped an adult learner prepare for the QTS Numeracy Skills Test, which she subsequently passed.
I am committed to teaching, sharing knowledge and helping others, and really enjoy tutoring as my enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity and passion for interacting with people is put to good use.
Note: I hold a current enhanced DBS check.

I take an individual tailored approach to each learner, based on their personality, learning style and needs, and I find an open and friendly style works best. I’ve worked with students who are struggling with understanding maths and students who are doing well but need an extra push to reach their full potential. When covering the wide range of topics, I usually spend more time on the harder and more complex ideas but ensure there is a solid understanding of the basics first. I provide tips and tricks for exams, homework to complete between sessions to check understanding (which I mark before the next session), and regular assessments – using up-to-date material from relevant exam boards – to help the student and their parents understand where we are with progress.

Tina is not only an excellent tutor but she is the perfect person for it. She genuinely cares about her students, is passionate about sharing her maths knowledge and is able to create a environment that her students respond incredibly well to, in short she makes mathematics fun, engaging and rewarding. When volunteering together helping out a family in New Zealand I saw first hand how quickly she inspired a tutee to get excited about maths - she was planning what time her and Tina were going to be doing maths the next day she enjoyed it so much!
Tina is relatable and makes maths fun and makes you feel really good about yourself - we had a laugh while she helped me brush up on some maths for a recent job interview - after a couple of hours with her I felt a lot more confident and strangely found myself doing a couple of extra maths papers afterwards.I have known Tina both personally and professionally for 6+ years now and I can wholeheartedly say that Tina is one of the most capable and passionate tutors you will come across. Tina is highly organised, detail orientated and an extremely hard worker, however what shines through most are Tina's interpersonal skills and her passion to help others succeed.
Tina tutored my son through GCSE Maths resulting in a much higher grade than expected. Tina is very professional and manages to explain in different ways to make theories understandable whilst all the while making it fun and never onerous.
My son found it so helpful he asked for longer sessions - which quite frankly is unheard of in his world!
