About Theis
Hello! My name is Theis and I'm a published poet who recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first-class degree in English Literature. I am currently studying for an MA in Creative and Life Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Written communication is a core life skill, and teaching it always a personal and subjective process. As a tutor, I believe each student is unique and therefore tailor my lessons to the needs and goals of the individual, often in conversation with parents in the case of younger students (with, of course, their consent). I have experience in working with a diverse range of intellects, including students with dyslexia, ADHD and mental health difficulties, and as such understand the importance of adjustment and conversation when studying the humanities.
My experience in tutoring for UK school and undergraduate level humanities examinations includes:
- Reading and literacy with young children (ages 6+)
- 11+ (all clients successful)
- GCSE art, especially the conceptualisation and documentation of specific projects
- GCSE and A-Level English Language & Literature
- Preparation for university applications and interviews (Oxbridge included)
- Essay and dissertation writing
- Creative writing and editing across multiple forms (poetry, fiction, essay)
- English Literature: BA
- Editing and citation
I'm a friendly, approachable and engaging teacher, with a range of personal interests including contemporary art and literature, cross-country running and LGBT+ rights and representation. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and please feel free to get in touch with any queries about my teaching methods and availability - I look forward to hearing from you!

Theis taught my daughter for both 11+ examinations in english, science and maths; then subsequently for GCSE English and Biology. Theis has a wonderfully empathetic approach and knows how to get the best out of students. Supportive, encouraging, building confidence and inspiring self-belief, Theis enabled my daughter to get into her selective school of choice at 11, and then tutored her at GCSE to get top grades in English and Biology. Theis has continued to mentor my daughter through A-level English and in the writing of her EPQ project in biology; as well as her personal statement for university applications. I have no hesitation in recommending this inspiring tutor for your children.
Theis tutored my daughter who has ASD, ADD and dyslexia in the Easter holiday. Theis was able to bring together Imi's ideas and help her to structure them into a sketchbook which contained research, references, concepts, mind maps and original art.
