About Stephanie

Qualified Primary School Teacher

I have been teaching for more than 30 years. I started tutoring 15 years ago.

I teach 7+ and common entrance to independent schools as well as 11+ to state selective schools.

I also teach special needs, and students who need just that little extra help with their school work to give them a confidence and knowledge to succeed.

My lessons are always child centered catering to the needs of each individual.I am up date with all the latest teaching methods and I have a wealth of resources.

I encourage pupils to work hard and I expect them to work on their own, so I set a certain amount of homework each week so I can monitor their progress.

I have had a great deal of success with all my pupils achieving the school of their choice. I am passionate about teaching and find it immensely rewarding.

I enjoy teaching children to learn and reach their potential

Reference for Mrs Stephanie Hurst

Written by Liliane F
To whom it may concern,

Stephanie was our son Arthur's tutor for a period of seven months this year (2015). We engaged Stephanie to tutor Arthur in both English and Mathematics (although the option online does not allow you to select multiple subjects). Arthur (at the time) was a Year 6 pupil at St.Theresa's RC Primary School in Finchley.

Prior to Stephanie, we had previously used another tutor to little avail with Arthur. He is naturally bright however had struggled at times with his confidence, wavering attention span, poor attention to detail and the poor quality of presentation.

We are not over-zealous parents at all however the deficiencies in his schooling at St.Theresa's were very evident and warranted additional help to arrest the issues he was demonstrating (where it needed a neutral third party so to say as often the case is).

Through her valued persistence and seasoned teaching methods, Stephanie brought about a substantial change in not only Arthur's results for both subjects, however also in his confidence, his attitude towards attention to detail and the quality of his work.

Stephanie would thoroughly work through each syllabus topic with Arthur to ensure he clearly understood the matter at hand and in doing so would assess him (gently at first and then more reasonably as time went by to mark his progression). We found this to be a very sound approach which served to not only map Arthur's progression in improvement, but also to improve his confidence - which was fundamental.

Stephanie would also provide Arthur with excellent homework material and would work through this with him upon her return each week. Stephanie's dedication was as such that on a number of occasions she even went out of her way to drop off homework material for Arthur out of lesson time (jn addition to sourcing text books etc for us).

We would have no hesitation at all in recommending Stephanie. She is a proven asset in respect to improving a child's ability and confidence from the work she did with our son and her professional approach is unquestionable.

Please contact is should you require any further information.

Stephanie is an excellent teacher. She immediately identified my son's strengths and weaknesses and helped improve his skills for the 11 plus exams. She did not overwelm him or put him under pressure but gave him just the right amount of tutoring. We are grateful for her help.
