About Sohrab
Spending most of my life in classrooms as a student, helped me understand the importance of a teacher's role as both an instructor and a mentor. So for the last five years, I have been working as a teacher to fulfil this important role in the lives of young people. I find pleasure in introducing my students to subjects such as physics, mathematics and computer science. The concepts in such subjects can be difficult for students to grasp without the help of an effective instructor.
My own enthusiasm for these subjects instils the interest of my students and prevents them from thinking of schoolwork as a chore. In order to achieve this, I incorporate various teaching strategies in my classroom, such as interactive presentations and real life examples. I ensure that I offer students relatable examples from a wide variety of areas which interest them.
Since a young age, I have been naturally curious and talented in the study of sciences.
Following the completion of my O and my A' levels, I studied software engineering and learnt advanced mathematics and physics. Having gained knowledge and experience from these subjects at the higher level, I feel more capable of answering queries even if they go beyond the curriculum.
Following the completion of these courses, I pursued a double major in Accounting and IT, which allowed me to gain a more in depth understanding of concepts useful at the high school level such as percentages and interest. Developing an interest in business, I transferred to a BBA programme where I applied mathematical concepts to business management problems.
Upon completion of my Bachelor's degree, I joined The Princeton Review where I underwent rigorous training and became a certified instructor for the TOEFL and GRE examinations. I was attracted by the organization's innovative teaching techniques, especially in Mathematics, as well as their methods of conducting student evaluations. I was then transferred to Gilgit, where I was the instructor for Masters and PhD level teachers at KIU (Karakoram International University). This was a novel experience for me, as I was teaching individuals who were senior to me in both age and experience. I found this very humbling and inspiring. Immediately after this, I began a Masters in Multimedia Art, alongside while I continuing to work as a private tutor.
I then worked full time at Headstart School Islamabad for two and a half years, teaching GCE O'level Mathematics and IGCSE Mathematics (Core and Extended) to 125 students. For one year I taught Mathematics, Core Mathematics IGCSE, and Physics simultaneously.
I was awarded a certificate of commendation with over seventy percent of my students achieving a high grade (A*, A, or B) in mathematics. This was the moment when I arrived at the realisation that my future career lay in teaching. I began working as a GCE Mathematics teacher at one of Pakistan's oldest private schools The City School. Here I was voted 'Best Teacher' on the basis of student evaluation filled out by 200 students.
For the past three years, I had been running my own private tuition academy (Adelphi Institute), where I taught mathematics, physics and computer science to students at various levels.
During the summer of 2012, I had an incredibly rewarding experience of volunteering to teach students at the orphanage of SOS Village in Islamabad. Interacting with the students and seeing the impact I had on their lives showed to me the true value of this profession and instilled in me the passion which drives me to this day.
Currently, I am pursuing a Masters degree at the Royal Holloway University, however I want to continue working as a teacher so I can continue to hone my teaching skills. You are welcome to contact me via email or telephone if any further information is required.

Sohrab has surpassed my expectations. He initially advised that weekly sessions wasn't necessary for my daughter- his honesty was inspiring. However, he tutored her for highly selective London day schools and we are awaiting interviews
I needed help in resitting my A-level exams. I was referred to Sohrab by a close friend and he was able to explain some of the more trickier subjects in an easy to understand manner. He was friendly and had a really positive attitude. I would highly recommend him!
Sohrab teaches A'levels maths to my daughter. I had hired many tutors before him, but so far I have really been impressed by his work ethics. He is very punctual and most importantly very dedicated. My daughter has contacted him on several occasions when faced with math problems she could not solve and he was always ready to help. He takes the time to explain things clearly using everyday analogies which help her understand. We have also started physics tuitions with him and are once again pleasantly surprised! I would highly recommend Sohrab as a tutor.
