Tutor (English, English Literature, Law, Mandarin, Malay)
My name is Sofiya and I am a Law graduate from the University of Manchester. I recently completed the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) i.e. the qualification course for aspiring barristers. This September I will commence my postgraduate studies in Medical Law at Queen Mary University of London, which is why I am looking for tutoring jobs.
I graduated from the University of Manchester in June 2016 with First Class Honours, therefore I believe that my legal knowledge is sound and potential students could benefit from it. Furthermore, having spent a year on the Bar Course, I would be able to help other aspiring barristers in their exams, especially the centralised ones (Professional Ethics, Civil Procedure and Criminal Procedure), having gone through them myself.
I studied English Literature at A-level (scored an A*) and generally have a massive love for reading and writing essays. I'm also fluent in three languages i.e. English, Mandarin and Malay. Being Malaysian, I was required to sit the IELTS exam, where I scored a 9.0 (perfect score). I started learning Mandarin since the age of 4 and even attended a Chinese primary school, so I am able to read, speak and write. Malay is the national language of Malaysia so I grew up with it essentially.
With regards to my personality and character traits, I'm a very patient individual and I love teaching, especially when it involves subjects that I am passionate about. Having grown up with two younger brothers, it was often my responsibility to tutor and help them revise for exams in a way that suited their individual learning abilities and style.
