About Shawni
I trained for three years in Primary Education with QTS and during my final year I also began working as a supply teacher and started tutoring. As I was working as a supply teacher whilst finishing my degree I was able to experience a range of different ages and abilities using fresh knowledge being consistently built upon in University.
It was during this time that I began Maths tutoring for a year 3 child and this is where I realised I enjoyed being able to focus the learning to the individuals needs. Following the completion of my degree I worked full time in a school in Caerphilly. I again worked across all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 gaining valuable experience. During this year I also gave a small group of children in the school extra reading tuition including a dyslexic child to help them reach their full potential.
I really enjoy helping children with maths as it is something that I was (luckily) always confident with in school although I know that there are many out there who do not pick it up as easily. I am also a huge book worm and love teaching English and assisting with reading skills.
