We first met Seonaid almost five years ago when we were lucky enough to find her to help with our eldest son's reading. He was five then. Her patience, knowledge and creativity when it came to helping him was boundless. He went from being a reluctant reader, low in confidence and with a lot of barriers, to drawing him out, raising his confidence until he was reading for pleasure and unafraid of any of the new challenges he faced at school. She took away the fear and has given him a real pride and joy in learning which he keeps to this day.
She made such a difference we asked her to also tutor Emerson's younger twin brothers. Quite a challenge as all three have very different personalities and different strengths and weaknesses. Plus they are all very aware of what their brother's can do easily which they can't (which makes for quite an emotional journey). As they've progressed through the curriculum she's found endless strategies to help them approach learning and face new challenges as individuals and with a confidence and playfulness that has meant they each achieve well in class but most importantly have no fear of learning or of new things.
She has constantly bought out the best in them and given them the tools to enjoy school, enjoy learning and most importantly a readiness to try their best at everything knowing that what they don't 'get' today they will tomorrow.
We couldn't have hoped for a kinder, more professional or imaginative tutor for our boys. She has given them the most amazing foundation by not only helping them attain the knowledge expected (and beyond) but also instilling in them a self-belief that makes learning fun.
