About Seema

Hi! My name is Seema and I have 7 years of tutoring/teaching experience. I specialise in Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology and I have helped many students achieve top grades. My former students have all achieved A and A*’s for their A levels and 8/9 for their GCSE results (see some of my reviews below) and have been accepted into some of the best universities in the world, including Imperial, UCL, Cambridge, Yale University and Kings College London.

The main reason why my students have excelled is because I am there to support them not just during our lessons. I am available via email/text/call if the student requires any help or has any questions during the week. Helping students achieve the grades they deserve is what makes me motivated and extremely passionate about tutoring.

I know that choosing a tutor can be a daunting task, and therefore I offer a 30 minute free of charge consultation so that you feel comfortable and certain that we are a good match.

If you have any questions, send me a private message and I will talk with you soon!

---Qualifications---

Master of Science (MSc) Global Health and Development (Infectious Diseases and Vaccines) – University College London and University of Barcelona

Bachelor of Science (BSc) Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Biomedical Science (First Class) – University College London

A level: A* Mathematics, A Chemistry and A Biology

GCSE: 11A* 2A

---Background ---

Alongside private tutoring, I have been working with a United Nations (UN) Statistics City Group involved in international disability research, primarily in Africa and Asia. I have published work in various scientific journals and coordinate global activities of the UN group and oversee the management and budget of a $4 million project.

---Experience/ Tutoring Approach---

I have 7 years of extensive private one-to-one and group tutoring experience:

• I worked for the prestigious tutoring company, First Class Learning, for 2 years and taught Mathematics and English to groups of students aged 6 to 18 years old.
• I was also an English teacher at the Takupa Senanukul High School in Thailand.
• I have taught GCSE Chemistry 2-day Booster Courses (5-10 students) during exam season for the last two years.
• I was scouted by a North London tutoring agency and taught Chemistry (A-level and GCSE) and prepared students for the 11+ examinations and interviews.

I am a very patient, perceptive and friendly tutor. Before the lesson, I ask for a list of topics that the student would like to cover so that I am prepared and can bring the relevant materials with me. I also highly encourage students to ask questions throughout the lessons as this is what promotes learning and ensures that the material is covered thoroughly and that there are no gaps in the student’s understanding and knowledge.

Every student has their own way of understanding and retaining information. Therefore, in the very first lesson, I will make sure I fully understand how my student learns and will tailor my lessons and teaching accordingly. In each subject, I will first cover key ideas and concepts thoroughly so that the rest of the material can be easily and quickly taught. I have found that students who cover exam papers and exam questions early in the year are often the ones which achieve very high marks. Therefore, after covering each subject in depth, I look at exam questions related to specific topics so that exam techniques and skills are learnt from early on.

---Reviews---

Seema tutored me degree level chemistry (organic chemistry) during my first year of university. She explained difficult concepts so well that we breezed through the content. I was so confused and lost during my year at university (especially since I missed 2 months) and I was so confident after just a few lessons with Seema. She also is so kind – she answered any questions that I had via email during the week too! I got my results last week and I am so happy with my grades! Thank you! J J, student (University Level Chemistry – Synthetic Organic Chemistry)

Seema is such a friendly tutor. She made me feel so comfortable and I really looked forward to our lessons. A P, student (GCSE Chemistry)

My son got an A for A-level chemistry because of Seema. He was predicted a D and got an E for the mocks before I found Seema online!. I am so grateful! He is now studying Mathematics at University. M A, parent (A-level Chemistry)

Very impressed with Seema, logically planned lessons, enthusiastic and hard working. S M, parent (GCSE Mathematics and English)

She is great. She is my favorite teacher. Friendly and understanding. M T, student (Adult Learner- English)

I love our lessons and always look forward to them as Seema is very patient and very understanding. S S, student (GCSE Chemistry)

Seema tutored my daughter Biology for her GCSE exams. She did not like Biology at all. After her lessons with Seema, she finally understood Biology and even feels confident that she is going to do well in her exams! She actually told me she likes Biology now and is thinking of doing it for A-levels – I am shocked! Thank you very much Seema! S J (GCSE Biology)
