English and Humanities Tutor of 5 years. Cambridge Uni.

I am a recent graduate from Cambridge university with five years experience as a tutor. I offer private tuition from Key Stage 3 to A-levels and specialise in English, History, Drama, Classical Civilisation and Religious Studies. I also offer tuition that guides students through the UCAS application process, including Oxbridge admission, for exceptional students. I offer Skype tuition and am happy to travel to students living in London.

After graduating in 2014, I have complemented my teaching, with playwriting and acting work. Some recent projects include a historical play on the life of Leon Trotsky, a novella and a radio comedy series. I have just returned from acting in a 6 month international tour with Vienna’s English Theatre.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a private tutor for four years specialising in Oxbridge University admission and humanities subjects, which I teach from Key Stage 3 to A-level. My specialist subjects are: English Literature, History, Drama & Theatre Studies, Classical Civilisation and RS.

I have an excellent academic record. I took 5 AS level examinations and 4 A-levels (receiving A* in English and Drama and Theatre Studies, As in Classical Civilisation and History). I received 8A*s and 2As at GCSE level. I also have personal experience of school entrance exams at 11+ and 6th form level. My research interests are in mid-century American literature, specifically in the 50s and 60s counterculture (as manifested in the work of Allen Ginsberg and Norman Mailer); and the interactions of English and French comic literature, particularly in the work of Geoffrey Chaucer and Lawrence Sterne.

Tutoring Approach

The tutorials I offer are designed to help each student to become self-sufficient. Typically, I use current work assignments as a spring board for broader discussion, providing a student with the tools to build and reinforce a growing skill-set. I aim to create a challenging and dynamic work space, which encourages original thought and genuine engagement in the subject. I firmly believe that learning requires creative engagement and enjoyment, therefore I strive to make all my lessons as much fun as possible.

I offer a bespoke service, providing individualised lesson plans, worksheets and also custom-made revision packs for students undertaking examinations.
