About Sarah
I am a friendly and fun recent graduate of a BSc Chemistry (1st class Honours) from QMUL with a strong academic foundation in chemistry, I am looking to tutor children of all ages with a focus on science and course chemistry.
I have previously volunteered as a reading buddy to year 8 students. I have also previous experience and tutored chemistry to GCSE student as well as have supported sixth form student in university applications. As well that, I was volunteer stuff for solitary sports; a charity for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I truly believe that tutoring plays a significant role in learning and allowing students to achieve the grades they are capable of. Every student studies differently and has their way of learning. I have noticed this by seeing the way I study (I am dyslexic myself), compared to my friends and also other students I tutor. Because of that, I try to adapt my teaching style to suit the needs of the student.
The way I believe tutoring should be approached is by active engaging learning. Using past papers and questions to challenge the student as well as engage them by making them teach me what they have learnt. Starting from the key principles, we can then develop on and solidify the smaller points, and finally, start doing questions which I believe is very effective to allow you to assess how prepared you for your exam by applying your knowledge.
I try to ask challenging questions to students to make them question specific concepts and this allows them to learn more effectively rather than just memorise things. I do believe it is important to structure the lessons effectively, which means having a brief overview at the beginning, then towards the end, a summary and questions to see whether the student has learnt and made improvements. My lessons are very succinct and well structured and I make sure that every student I tutor is fully equipped for their exams.
I have GREAT enthusiasm for the subject I read and would love to relay that to other students and help them. I am flexible, so please contact me for more information and for whatever your needs are.
