About Sarah
I am a postdoctoral researcher, with a PhD medical engineering, a masters in rehabilitation engineering and assistive technologies, and an undergraduate degree in physics with medical physics. In my lessons, I aim to give my students context to the maths and physics that I teach to give a deeper understanding, rather than just memorising.
I mostly teach GCSE and A-level maths and physics and am familiar with the Edexcel and OCR exam boards.
I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and my experience includes tutoring KS1, KS2 and GCSE maths, as well as teaching undergraduate and masters level students. I am also a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) ambassador, going into schools to work with children of many ages in order to inspire them about STEM subjects.
I'm also always happy to discuss potential career pathways with my students.

I gain an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of my students, and plan my lessons around this.
I have a range of problem solving methods that I teach my students, and try to understand which suits them best. I believe that teaching my students about how they learn is the key to excelling in a subject.
As someone who has struggled with confidence in myself at school, I like to act as a cheerleader for my students, and show them that they are more capable than they think.

Dear this site,
I am writing this reference for Sarah as she is a mentor to me. We were introduced by a university lecturer we have in common who felt it would benefit me to meet and talk with Sarah, which was and is exactly the case as I have had discussions with her on different occasions about my academics and associated challenges and she always listens and provides insightful solutions and tips. In addition to that, she is very helpful and always looks out for people and finds ways to help them, so, I believe she will be a great tutor!View more recommendations
