About Sarah

I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in Theology and Religious Studies. I have since been working in research, sales, marketing, and client relations in the Digital Music industry in London. I have taken up teaching because I have a passion for education, and believe that all students deserve to be given the necessary encouragement and assistance required to reach their full potential. My own life has been hugely influenced by certain teachers at school and university, and I hope to be able to do the same for my students. I teach students the skills needed to work independently and efficiently, a skill that is particularly important for those juggling academic work with multiple extracurricular activities, as I did myself.

As well as providing students with the skills needed for examinations, I encourage students to find confidence in their own potential in order to truly excel and engage with their subjects. I tailor teaching methods to suit individuals and their personal ways of thinking. This will allow them to grasp complicated topics in a way which adequately prepares them for examinations, whilst also stretching them to reach their potential by increasing their confidence, passion and drive for learning.

To achieve top marks, students need to engage with topics in a way that goes beyond simply memorising data. I encourage students to develop an eye for detail which will allow them to make connections in an original and creative manner in both examinations and coursework essays. This attention to detail will also help them to develop excellent precision in their own writing. Through patient and clear teaching, I aim to show students how varying their study, research and thinking techniques will help them come to a fuller understanding of topics, leaving them with transferable skills to extend to the rest of their studies. This should enhance students’ abilities in their private study, and also prepare them for independent working at university and in the workplace.

I tutor all ages in Religious Studies, English Literature, English Language, Spoken English, Classical Civilisation, and University Applications (including Oxbridge). I am also happy to tutor younger children who may need general assistance with schoolwork in the humanities, or to improve language, music, reading, study and more broad life skills. I have previous experience both as a live-in nanny, and working at a respite group with young children with special needs and disabilities to help develop their cognitive and social skills. I will always do whatever I can to help students build confidence and reach their full potential through creatively tailoring education to each child’s needs. I am responsible and passionate about everything I do. Other interests include music, sport, yoga, reading and education.
