About Samy

WHAT IS MY EXPERIENCE?

⦁ At the City of London School for Boys, I have successfully taught pupils for IGCSE French and A level French who have gone on to both Oxford and Cambridge.
⦁ I know of the academic excellence and high expectations of selective UK independent schools
⦁ I have extensive experience tutoring students from the most prestigious schools in and around London, among them:

- City of London School for Boys, where I have taught French IGCSE and French A-level
- Latymer Upper School
- St Marylebone School
- Eltham College
- Radley College
- Wisbech Grammar School
- Mill Hill School
- Roedan School
- King Edward VI School for Girls

and many more.

⦁ Due to my long tutoring experience, I know of the high expectations put on students. This is why I take pride in delivering top level tuition in every lesson.

⦁ I have learned that tailoring learning strategies to every student's skills - language skills, and/or analytical skills for A level - significantly increase the pupil’s confidence and improve the chances to achieve his or her goals. This is how I can make a difference to the students' lives.

⦁ Yes: the key to the student's rapid and sustainable progress is that every lesson ends with homework every time until the next tutoring session.

I have been very lucky to go through an excellent education, and I'm obsessed with the idea of giving back and helping those who need it.

Since I'm very young, I've always had an intimate connection with my native language, and I love to share my passion for how the language works and what it conveys.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

Being a native French really helps with this one :)
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

I always loved the Tintin character from the comic album. A brave reporter from Belgium who travels the world with his dog - what's not to like? :)
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

A sweet French breakfast with café and croissant is the sweetest thing ! ;)
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Learning French is said to be hard and frustrating.
I want to show that it doesn't have to be. French can be made simple, using the right method.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Grammar is usually a tricky point.
I use a lot of examples to show that it is actually not so difficult.
Listening and speaking can be intimidating also. They require some guidance. I help with giving you precise feedback on what to focus on exactly.
I also like to answer any question you may have, any time during the lesson.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I loved learning English, especially translating from English to French. I would spend a lot of time on finding the perfect word. Challenging, especially when you need to switch languages!
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Only when I left France for London did I realize: people were interested in learning my native language!
I wanted to help them but as a native speaker, I needed to put myself in their shoes. I had to see learning French from their perspective, which really helped me grow as a person.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

I can relate to students learning a foreign language, as I have gone through the process myself.
When I started, more than 10 years ago, I knew there was something I loved about teaching French... and I am still passionate about it!
Over the years I specialized in exam preparation, developing French fluency for work or personal life, as well as helping younger students develop a passion for French.
I love all aspects of teaching French. I love to see my students feel a sense of accomplishment, feeling that they understand French now. I like to think that this will give them more confidence and success in their personal lives.
