About Samuel-Louis
In the past year I have tutored 7 students for a total of over 500 hours in a range of subjects; I have tutored KS3 science and mathematics, GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics, GCSE Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, as well as both IB and A level Mathematics and Physics and A level Further Mathematics.
I am currently tutoring an A level Mathematics student once a week, before this he was on a C grade, since this he went on to score an A grade in his mocks and is predicted to score top marks in his final exams, he is making excellent progress and is on track to achieve the A grade that he requires to get into Durham university. I also tutor an A level Physics student who has improved by two grades in her last two assessments and is predicted to meet her university entry requirements. All of my students have similarly shown progress since I have started to tutor them and I also work with several students on long term revision strategies and exam technique to maintain their current high grades.
In the last 12 months I have been working with a student who had missed a lot of her IB maths studies and IB physics courses at school due to medical issues. She was unable to attend school regularly but was in regular contact with her school. We focused on pinpointing the topics she had the most trouble with and tackling those first before moving on to general revision and past paper practice. She has recently received her results and was extremely happy to learn that she achieved a 7 in her IB maths studies and a 6 in IB physics and she will be off to her first choice of university in September.
This year I have tutored three students who are taking the 'new style' 9-1 GCSE's in science and mathematics and am completely up to date with all changes from the old and new curriculums. As well as this I have tutored the new A level Maths and Physics specifications as well as IB Mathematics and Physics. I am also currently tutoring two students who are sitting the new physics, maths and further maths A level courses, both of whom have been predicted A grades by their teachers after sitting their most recent mock exams.
Previously I tutored a 14 year old female grammar school student for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as she transitioned into her GCSE studies. When we began tuition confidence and exam preparation were a big concern for her, but after I worked with her on some revision and exam techniques and helped her to organise her study time her confidence has started to grow and she scored over 90% in her most recent Biology exam. I also tutored several students who were transitioning into secondary school with various skills tests and study skills sessions.
While working as both a teacher and a tutor I have prepared students for the 'new style' 9-1 Science GCSE for Chemistry, Biology and Physics, as a teacher I taught a wide range of students including students who found science challenging and students who had a passion and flair for science and craved a wider and deeper level of scientific knowledge. Catering to individual students, encouraging them and getting them to flourish is something that I take great pride in.
At Queen Mary University of London I was a peer assisted study support (PASS) mentor for two years, where I was awarded PASS mentor of the year. This involved teaching first and second year undergraduate level material in Physics, Mathematics and related subjects. I have also had informal experience in preparing two students for 11+ exams, both students passed these exams and were accepted into grammar schools as a result.

Samuel-Louis helped my daughter through her 11+. He was very polite and put my daughter at ease, which was especially important for me as a parent as Chloe is a very shy child and anxious. He remained professional at all times. She went on to pass and now attends a very good Grammar School. She will be heading in to Year 10 this September and I have recently called upon him again to help her over the summer to assist with all 3 sciences' and Maths.
Samuel- Louis is a very polite and professional young man and certainly somebody I would be happy to recommend. He is very helpful and always works at my pace. If we need to slow down he does and he always makes sure that the work is appropriate and challenging.
Having worked with Sam for over a year now, he comes very highly reviewed by his students at school, and is often the first source of advice and instruction for staff too due to his outstanding subject knowledge, excellent communication skills and approachable manner. Sam has an excellent track record of progress with his students, and is exceptionally organised and professional while remaining incredibly friendly and a pleasure to work with. I can't recommend him strongly enough as a private tutor.
