English, Humanities and 11+ Tutor Based in South London
Originally from mid Wales and now based in Brixton, I am a creative, kind and patient tutor with experience covering a wide range of subjects.
After completing a degree at The University of York I undertook actor training at the prestigious L'Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris. Whilst in Paris I worked as an English language teacher at Ecole Albert Aubel and toured the Ile de France region as an actor in a self devised play. In London, I have worked as a teaching assistant and tutor in various schools and the surrounding area with a focus on English, Drama and History. These include Reigate Grammar School, St George's Maida Vale, Westminster Academy and the SEN school Jack Tizzard in White City. For the past two summers I have worked for My Big Buddy, a male nanny agency, and have taken care of children all over London throughout the summer holidays providing entertainment, offering support to the parents and providing tuition on homework.
I believe in finding a good tutor who the child can connect and engage with. The process needs to be fun as well as rewarding and something to look forward to as well as benefit from. I feel it is important to inspire students to think for themselves and rely and trust their intelligence and abilities. My approach is always to distill this level of thinking, to search for answers everywhere to establish independent thinkers.
I am an actor with a degree in theatre and also offer drama tuition up to degree level as well proving acting coaching.
I will be in Edinburgh for the whole of August but, if you require a competent tutor from September onwards, please get in touch.
