About Ryan
I'm Ryan and I am 28 years old. I studied Mathematics at G.C.S.E, A-level and degree level, finally resulting in me obtaining a Masters Degree from the University of Manchester. I then spent the following 4 and a half years working in audit for a global firm (PRGX) where I worked as a staff auditor, auditor and eventually a senior auditor.
In the 4 years that I spent working for PRGX, I gained a lot of transferrable skills that will help me going forward. However, the role never truly satisfied me and despite how far I progressed through the company, I always found myself compromising. The role gave me lots of things but never fulfilment. The longer I stayed, the more pressure I felt to chase the role I really wanted, which has led me to private tuition.
My passion for teaching Maths has always been there. However, I was never keen on the typical setting which is teaching in schools. I always preferred the idea of one-to-one tuition as it would enable me to tailor my teaching to a particular student, whilst bypassing a lot of the additional hassle that comes with handing classes of 30 students. I obtained an A* at G.C.S.E and A-level and would feel very comfortable teaching at both of these levels.
Before deciding to embark on this journey, I spent some time tutoring family members and friends at a variety of different levels to get myself some experience. You have to start somewhere, right? These sessions confirmed to me what I already knew. That is, tutoring is for me. Not having worked in schools before leaves me without a teaching qualification. However, this is something that I am currently researching and have every intention of completing alongside my tuition sessions. I am hoping the aforementioned qualification in conjunction with a Masters degree and a modest fee will get the ball rolling.
I am happy to visit the student’s home to teach or complete the session online. As I start to accumulate hours, I plan to expand so that students can also visit my home, in a designated teaching room, if they wanted to do so. I am happy to discuss with each student what their preferred learning style is, and I will create sessions based around this, and adapt my teaching style accordingly. This is all very new and exciting for me and so I am very flexible when it comes to pretty much all aspects. As I progress, I would like to begin videoing sessions so that students will always be able to look back on them for further assistance.
My interests outside of work include playing Texas Hold'em and travelling. Recently I visited Los Angeles, then drove to Las Vegas, followed by a flight to San Francisco in a 20 day trip to the States. Since then I have been to Rotterdam with further trips to Talinn and Helsinki in planning.

A friend of a friend recommended Ryan for maths tutoring. Despite feeling uncertain over the concept of tutoring prior to meeting him, he was extremely clear with simplifying previously complex areas of mathematics and clearly possessed an expansive knowledge of the subject. Between his vast understanding of maths and effective communication skills, I really couldn’t have asked for a better tutor.
I started an Open University course about 3 years ago and Ryan was local to my house and so I requested some tuition from him. has been a great help in understanding the harder material! I've been really struggling with Maths since I left school but Ryan really knows his stuff and made it really easy for me. Couldn't recommend more.
