About Ruth

Experienced and Enthusiastic Native Spanish tutor

My name is Ruth and I have been living in London for 9 years and I am still loving it.

I started tutoring Spanish when I came to London and I discovered how much I like teaching. Helping people to learn my language and convey my knowledge is very satisfactory for me.

After realizing that teaching is my passion I decided to train for it:

In 2010 I took the CLTA course (Certificate in Spanish Language Teaching to adults) in the International House.
In 2012 I gained the DTLLS course (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector).
In 2015 I finished a MA in teaching Spanish as a Foreign language, University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).

I have been for the last 9 years teaching Spanish to groups and 1 to 1 basis. I have experience teaching all the levels and a wide range of ages (children and adults). However, I specially like preparing students for their GCSE or A-Level exams. I find it very satisfactory and I see it as a challenge.

My experience has given my the tools to make sure I find the appropriate method for each one of my students so they can get the most out of their lessons, and at the same time, they find it fun and enjoyable.

About me...; I love spending time with friends and family while we can enjoy a good meal or watching a good film. Outdoors, I love skating and cycling.
However, I also enjoy time on my own, reading a book or practising yoga.
I have a creative side too, I love drawing and I use this hobby to create materials for my students.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any question.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Ruth Andrés

Lovely Spanish tutor

Written by Abigail K
Ruth is a very, warm and friendly Spanish tutor who helped my daughter with her Spanish GCSE, particularly with her written work, her grammar and pronunciation.

My daughter achieved an A at GCSE

Wonderful oral tutor who helped me with my Cambridge preparation

Written by Eleanor E
Ruth is a great and really friendly tutor. She went above and beyond the required to make sure I understood the material covered. She was incredibly helpful, and has an in-depth understanding of the learning of the Spanish language so, rather than being someone who just speaks Spanish, can help her students to understand complex grammar points and explain common difficulties.

She helped me prepare for the oral component of my interview to study Spanish at Cambridge, and also helped me prepare for the oral components of my International Baccalaureate exam and my first year exam in Cambridge.

My level of Spanish greatly improved and I was far more confident in the interview and the examinations. I was accepted to study at Cambridge

My daughter needed Spanish instruction to get into the IB Spanish class, and Ruth was so great. She contacted the teacher at the school to see what my daughter would need to know. She was flexible in adjusting to our schedule. She let us know how she was progressing and suggested ways to increase her improvement. Most important for my daughter was Ruth was patient and kind and it helped my daughter learn. We will use Ruth again if we ever have a need.
My daughter is doing fine in her class and feels confident that it will continue. She has even received praise on her pronunciation/accent. We are pleased.

Spanish A-level

Written by Simon L
A very great help in assisting my son with some "top up" conversational Spanish just before A-levels.
Spanish (A-Level)

So lucky to have found Ruth- a talented, wonderful Spanish teacher.

I cannot recommend Ruth highly enough. We employed her in a panic, realising that my daughter had only a few months left to cram in the whole GCSE curriculum. Ruth was calm and totally proficient. Her knowledge of the syllabus and what was required to pass the exam was second to none. She was able to be both realistic about expectations and encouraging, but more importantly she was a very stabilising presence for my daughter during a stressful time of cramming. My daughter achieved an A* grade after only a few months with Ruth. We were astonished and delighted. My daughter also has increased confidence in her abilities and an enduring interest in Spanish language and culture. Thanks Ruth!
A* GCSE grade.
