About Ross
Hi, I’m Ross, an analyst and policy advisor for the UK civil service, currently on a yearlong career break. I’ve been a maths tutor on and off since I was a university student.
I’m offering virtual tuition and I’m very flexible with which days for the week and time of day.
I have a BSc in Economics and A Level Mathematics and have experience as a teaching assistant at a Secondary School, supporting KS3 and GCSE students and specifically supporting neurodiverse students. I have been working in analysis, applying mathematics and economic skills for 8 years since graduating.
I have very positive 1:1 tuition experience with students at KS3 and GCSE level. I have supported students who struggle with mathematics and need support navigating basics, as well as supporting students who are looking to stretch and excel, aiming for the highest grades.

My approach is very flexible and patient. I am happy to be led by the student’s needs, working alongside their school curriculum, reviewing work and supporting with homework. I’m equally happy preparing work and exercises based on my assessment of their needs.
I have experience tutoring maths, however my academic experience with economics and geography means I’m more than happy and capable supporting these subject including at A Level standard. Also happy to provide examination practice for 11+ and applications for University and navigating the UCAS process. I am happy also to provide career advice and share my public sector experience to now.
Please enquire if there are specific subjects/processes you are looking for support with.

Ross and I were in the same year at the University of Bath, where we both studied Economics. During our second and final year, we both had the opportunity to tutor younger economics cohorts. Ross focused his tutoring on our mathematical units, as mathematics is a strength of his. During my time as a tutor I watched Ross pass on his knowledge in a succinct and efficient manner. A large part of his success as a tutor was attributable to the amount of effort he put in place before meeting with tutees. Ross is an inspiring tutor and is well equipped to tutor at either GSCE, A-level, or undergraduate level.
