About Robyn
Whether you are studying for GCSEs, A-Levels, or are just starting out and need some extra help with aural skills I am here to help. I am an adaptable, organised and enthusiastic tutor who’s friendly and approachable and happy to tailor my teaching to your needs and pace.
In 2015 I graduated with a first-class honours degree in music from Kings College, London, and in 2017 I received my MSc (distinction) in the neuropsychology of music from Goldsmiths, University of London. My studies have encompassed psychology, neuroanatomy, musicology, music theory, aural skills, composition techniques, analysis, and essay writing, as well as performance.
Prior to my degree at KCL I studied undergraduate performance (classical voice) at the Royal Northern College of Music and have continued my performance training at Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Vocal Professor Glenville Hargreaves. My principal study is singing and I have a wide experience from classical solo to close-harmony ensemble and jazz.
Throughout my education, I have enjoyed both the performance and academic aspects of music and believe the two are inextricably linked. Being a good musician means not only playing well and practising but endeavouring to understand the theoretical basis of music too. This informs your performance choices and can enrich musical experiences.
Music is a subject that encourages interaction and creativity, transferable skills that are tools for life, and it is my belief that music is a core subject that can aid other studies. For more information on how other academic studies can benefit from engaging in musical activity please see a recent research project by Opera North: (concealed information)
Working as a section leader in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain has given me experience in delivering vocal tuition, musicianship and theory training to aspiring young musicians. I enjoy developing and nurturing young talent, and helping students understand concepts and achieve their goals.
I am based in the Petersfield area and can travel within West Sussex, Surrey, and Hampshire as well as Central London. Please get in touch about my availability or if you have any other queries.

I was the lecturer on two modules taken by Robyn in her final year at King's College London, and also Head of the Department of Music, where she studied.
She is a friendly, responsible, courteous and considerate person. She sang in the chapel choir, which required a huge commitment of time and effort, and willingly took part in other musical activities on top of that. Her work was reliably good, and in some cases outstanding, the latter including a final-year dissertation on the phenomenon of absolute pitch in which, after gaining the necessary ethical approval from the College's demanding ethics committee, she studied a pair of identical twins, one of whom had AP and one of whom did not. This is an unusual situation, which professionals would have been happy to have studied, and Robyn produced an excellent piece of work, not far from being publishable -- an exceptional achievement for an undergraduate. She writes very well, and is articulate and well-organised.
I can recommend her highly.View more recommendations
