About Ritobrata

Go for excellence; success will find you.

Hi, my name is Rito and I am a postgraduate student in oncology at Imperial College London, Hammersmith Hospital.
The best bit about teaching is to understand one's student (and vice versa). Once that relationship's been established, knowledge and learning is just a cup of tea.
The beauty about learning is being involved with what's happening around you! What I mean is, reading text can be great, but what students often forget to do, or more often teachers forget to show, is to see the relevance of a particular topic in their lives. To be able to socially connect with what they're learning. To be able to find motivation through a channel that is not mediated by school itself. Because these are the channels that becomes one's inspiration. To some people it can be a deep emotional loss or feeling that evokes this hunger to completely understand something. For others it may be as simple as the fact that they love a movie or a tv show, so they decided to take up the subject.
What i really want to do is kindle this flame. I believe that it is the tutor's duty to support the student in their own quest to learn; and maybe at younger ages help them realise their own passion. Since i am constantly involved in active research and development, I have realised that this motivation is what is really needed.
