About Razi

Inspiring & Committed Maths, Physics and Finance Tutor

Hi! If you're looking for an experienced friendly tutor with excellent subject matter knowledge of maths and physics and a patient, understanding attitude, then I can help.

I’m an Oxford physics graduate who has worked in the City for over 20 years now. I’ve always been committed to both Maths and Physics throughout my career – I’ve managed to squeeze in an additional degree, in Maths and a Master’s in Astrophysics. After leaving Christ Church, Oxford with a degree in Physics I decided to pursue a career in the city. I studied and qualified for an ACA and then worked at a number of high profile banks in the city, before now running my own small property business.

I’ve remained passionate about science, maths and especially physics and my enthusiasm for the subject is infectious. I’ve been teaching, mentoring and helping others with understanding complex, difficult material for decades now, and it’s something I love to do. Whether you’re looking to achieve a pass or the best grade, I can help you make that final leap by helping you attain a series of ‘lightbulb’ moments, tailored to you. Everyone is different and so will have different lightbulb moments, but when these happen, the subject suddenly becomes much clearer, and much more interesting. The primary aim of any tutor is to build up confidence in the student, to allow them to be able to tackle novel situations and problems and for them to feel comfortable with the subject matter. I’ve taught to people of all ages, from primary to Company CEOs and the real joy for me lies in transferring the insights and ideas I’ve developed over the years and watching my students improve. I’m patient and generous with my time, and seek to provide a friendly yet challenging environment to get those brain cells motoring!

After a long and varied career in the City I can also offer tuition in finance, financial maths and excel, as well as offer career advice and anecdotes and vignettes from my experiences.

I have a car so can travel extensively throughout North London (e.g. Enfield, Barnet), alternatively I can take public transport if you’re located in town.

I’m the parent of a 7 year old boy and I love to spend as much of my spare time as I can with him. I also love boxing training to keep fit and help run a special interest community. I’ve also travelled extensively all over the world and plan on doing a whole lot more.

A grade in A level Maths

A rare find

Written by Fred M
Razi offered James a patient and thorough approach in his Further Maths and Physics sessions, and we could definitely see the change in James' confidence in the run up to the Oxford entrance exams (passed!).

James told us that he appreciated Razi's calm guidance towards the right way of tackling exams - first by breaking down each question and matching it up to things he'd taught in a previous session, and then preparing the best way to demonstrate the answer.

Razi clearly has a gift and deep interest in the subject matter and I like to think that rubbed off on our son.

Further Maths
James got 'A's in Maths, Further Maths and Physics and was accepted to St. Johns College at Oxford to study Physics.

Razi is a fantastic tutor! I honestly don't think I'd have passed my Finance course without him. He's always prepared and had endless patience for my dumb questions :) He has a way of explaining ideas that make them easier to visualise and he was invaluable to me. I'd recommend him to anyone.

5* Mathematics Volunteer

Razi volunteered with Tutorfair, spending his free-time supporting students at a school in Central London. He has shown himself to have concrete subject knowledge and was highly successful in promoting the progress of pupils. The teacher commented that Razi was dedicated to helping students learn. He was patient, kind and enthusiastic towards their learning goals. In order to improve his practice, Razi would engage in discussion with me regarding his successes and areas for improvement.
