About Rachel
I was born in Paris and received a bilingual French-English education from the age of 6, at the Jeanine Manuel School. I obtained a Literary Baccalaureate with International Option, Art Option and Drama Option. At 18, I left Paris to study at the University of Warwick where I graduated with a BA in Film and Literature. I currently live in London and work in the film industry for Hollywood productions - a very exciting world!
I am keen to tutor students of all ages and levels. I can introduce a primary school pupil to languages and art, and develop their curiosity with practical and fun methods. I can help a pupil prepare for their A levels and help release some of the stress that can come with exam preparation. I can advise a university student amid their media or literature course on essay writing and exam preparation. I can teach a professional looking to broaden their skills or learn a new language for work. Or I can introduce a curious individual to a new language, art history, literary and film analysis or even Photoshop! Learning has no boundaries.
My methods are grounded in the way I learnt languages, literature, art and film at school and at university. I strongly believe in practical and diverse methods. Learning a language is fun when you learn through creative and playful activities, and when you practice the language often through conversations. I believe that to learn a language, you have to immerse yourself completely within the culture and universe of that language, so from the start of my French classes, students will imagine they are in a French-speaking country, and all interaction will be in French, with as little English as possible.
Equally, I can teach high-school and university students about literature and media in a more academic way if they wish, with some essay writing workshops, help on how to get the information you need from reading resources, and exam preparation (with a bit of poster activities and colour coding to keep things exciting!)
I will adapt my methods to your goals, and what works best for you.

Rachel studied for a joint-honours degree in Film and Literature at the University of Warwick from 2013 to 2016. I never personally taught Rachel in seminars, but she was well known to me during her time at Warwick, because she was by any measure the outstanding student in her cohort. She took ten modules across her second and third years and achieved first-class grades in all bar one of these, with an exceptional final grade point average of 73.25%. It was no surprise to me that Rachel went on to secure a prestigious job with Framestore, one of the world's leading visual effects production companies, and it speaks volumes about her character that she gave up half a day to come back to Warwick last year to speak to our current students about job opportunities in her field.
Rachel Efassy-Bitoun would make an excellent tutor in Film Studies, Literature and French. She did Film and Literature at the University of Warwick where I am Associate Professor and graduated in 2016 with a First Class Degree. Since then, she moved to London and worked as an art department coordinator and then a VFX coordinator at Framestore for 3 years (with credits on Christopher Robin, Spiderman: Far from Home, WonderWoman 1984, The Secret Garden, BBC's Watership Down). In November she left the VFX industry to train in art direction and set decorating at Pinewood Studios, where she earned a certificate in Draughting and Art Direction at the Film Design International school.
She is highly intelligent, highly skilled and would make a super tutor children with their English and French homework. Or teach French classes to children and adults. She is originally from Paris and received a bilingual education, so her native language is French. But her English is excellent as is demonstrated by the Joint Honours First Class Degree she received from Warwick in Film AND Literature
I recommend her highly and without reservations,
José Arroyo
