Cambridge grad & experienced tutor in science and maths
I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Experimental and Theoretical Physics from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 2015, followed by a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy at Imperial College. I recently completed my Master's, and have started a PhD in physics at Imperial College, working on high-efficiency solar cells. Prior to University, I went to an international school in the Netherlands and took IGCSE and IB exams. My first degree, Natural Sciences, required a broad range of science and maths subjects to be taken before specialising in physics in my final two years. I graduated in 2015 with a BA and MSci.
During my time at Cambridge, I participated in research at Cambridge and Harvard University, resulting in several published papers. I also made time for many extracurricular activities, especially RAG (a fundraising organisation), as well as rowing, yoga and consulting projects.
I have tutored IB exam candidates in Chemistry and Maths previously, and A-Level Physics, Maths and Further Maths students, with over 200 hours of experience. I have also tutored university-level classical and quantum mechanics courses, as a private tutor and as a first-year tutor at Imperial College. I think it's important that students feel comfortable to ask the questions they may not ask at school so they can understand the reasoning behind methods taught in science and maths, rather than just rote-learning equations. I genuinely love science and find it exciting to tackle a problem and solve it, and I want to help others feel that same sense of achievement.
Please send me a message if you are interested in arranging a tutoring session - I am quite flexible with my time and can do hours other than those listed in my available times.
After struggling with one of my modules a few sessions with Phoebe made a huge difference to my overall understanding of Theoretical Physics. She helped by using my own lecture notes along with hers and helped me understand what exam questions were asking and showed me a more focused method for attempting problems.
