During his time as a student at the University of Aberdeen, he had the privilege of performing, alongside the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir, for HRH the Duchess of Rothesay and Cornwall. He has performed a wealth of compositions for the left hand including Bach Chaconne in d minor, Scriabin Prelude, and Nocturne and is set to perform the UK premiere of the Martinu Piano concerto for the left hand with the Elphinstone Chamber orchestra in May 2014.

Paul has further enhanced his skills through lessons and master-classes, working with prestigious national and international pianists including Iwan Llewelyn-Jones, Lesley Howard, Daniel Del Pino and Rolf Hind. His most recent teacher was Prof. Nigel Clayton, Senior Lecturer in Music at the Royal College of Music. In March 2013, he was invited to observe a master-class with Lang-Lang, as part of Lang-Lang’s UK concert tour.

In addition to music performance, Paul is a very able composer. He studied composition with Prof. Paul Mealor. Paul has written many choral compositions and song cycles, most notably a piece written for Jeremy Huw Williams. Other than Vocal music Paul has composed a wind quintet for the Auriga Quintet of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra and a String Quartet for The Edinburgh Quartet in 2012. His most composition, a setting of Loch Lomond, has been played throughout Scotland and more notably in America by the Boeing staff choir of Washington. More recently Paul has been composing and transcribing music for left-hand piano. Paul has become known for his left-hand transcription of Chopin’s Ballade in G minor which was the central point in the Channel 4 documentary Chopin Saved my Life.

From 2012 to 2013 Paul worked closely with Channel 4 and the Oxford Film and Television Company on the Grierson (halo arts) award nominated documentary Chopin saved my life, with Bafta and Emmy award-winning director James Kent. From this Paul gained a vast amount of media attention including interviews with Shereen Nanjiani on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Reporting Scotland, STV news, all major national newspapers and international blogs.

Since 2011, Paul has taught privately Piano, Composition and Music Theory to students of various ages where I favor the ABRSM framework when teaching. This method helps advance each pupil independently developing their skill set at a rate which is suitable for both the tutor and the pupil. Alongside being a composer, gaining a wealth of experience teaching as a resident composer for many of the North-East of Scotland's music festivals including Go! Compose!
