About Nurry
Nurry Lee is a pianist, currently attending the Royal College of Music, performing and working with some of the greatest musicians in London and UK. She was a student at Wells Cathedral School, one of the four specialist music schools, on a full scholarship. She completed her Grade 8 Piano when she was 11 years old (2006) and Grade 8 violin in 2010; both with distinction. Nurry gained the concerto prize, performing the Shostakovich Piano Concerto no.2 and worked alongside conductors Christopher Adey, Paul Denegri and Dennis Simons. She also won the keyboard prize at Gregynog Young Musician of the Year and gained 1st Prize in EPTA (European Piano Teacher’s Association) competition, Midsomerset Festival, Longwell Green and Eistedford. She is also a member of Trio Rouge, a female Piano Trio based in London, and have been performing with them. Nurry has performed at many venues around the UK and abroad, coming as the guest artist at the Bath Abbey, Bristol ensemble concert and playing for the Countess of Wessex. She studied with Professor John Byrne (Head of Keyboard at WCS), and since coming to RCM is now working with Professor Ian Jones (Deputy Head of Keyboard at RCM).
She has had many years experience in teaching students in London, and have had the most enjoyable time. She understands the intention behind each student and then makes suitable goals per lesson. She has had many success with her music students, with every single piano student getting a distinction in the ABRSM exams (from grades 1-8), three of her students attended and was accepted at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music, four of her students were accepted on scholarship as Music Scholars in the leading private schools in London, and recently her student received the highest mark for her ABRSM exam in her area and won the Rotary Music Competition (for under 12’s, under 18’s and regional).
Her students range from young (age 4) to adult learners. They all have a different aim and start at different levels, either beginner or already grade 8. Nurry knows how to let each student achieve the goals that they are looking for personally. The main genre is Classical music, but she can also do jazz, pop, blues, contemporary.
