About Nina
I'm Nina, 19 years old, in my second year studying law at UCL. I am passionate about teaching, and have experience in tutoring and teaching.
I began tutoring when, in middle school, I took part in a program where students with a good level in mathematics gave lessons to their peers. I then, last year, gave private French lessons to individuals whose age ranged from 10 to 30.
In high school, I did an internship in a school specialised in teaching children with diverse mental health issues, ranging from Down's syndrome to schizophrenia and autism. Helping teachers deliver lessons, or sometimes taking over the class, as well as accompanying the children throughout the day confirmed and consolidated my love of teaching.
I then, at age 16, accompanied a class of primary school children (in their first grade), helping the teacher deliver her lesson once a week.
Last academic year, I took part in a human rights pro bono project with my university, where I thought the fundamentals of human rights to a class of eight graders.
I feel that my age is an advantage: it allows me to better engage with younger students and understand why they get stuck where they get stuck. I greatly enjoy one-on-one tutoring; it allows for more in-depth discussion, especially for language lessons, and allows me to see precisely which areas students lack confidence in.
