About Neythen

Understanding, results driven learning!

Hi, I am a UCL graduate who studied Natural Sciences, achieving a high first class grade. The course encompassed Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths at degree level, giving me the understanding necessary to teach these subjects. I also have a wide range of experience in computer science and I am currently studying a masters in Scientific Computing at UCL.

My passion for teaching began when I started instructing Taekwon-do at the age of 15. This kick-started years of teaching across a variety of sports. During this time I became a certified assistant instructor with the CMMA and completed the Junior, Higher and then Community Sports Leadership Awards. This has given me experience teaching people from adult black belts to children beginners. I then took this foundation of teaching skills and applied them in an academic setting.

Since then I have had experience working at a local primary school and as a Maths teacher at a private tuition centre, teaching 11+, 13+ and CGSE maths. These experiences have given me insight into classroom teaching, especially how to structure a curriculum to ensure students reach their full potential. It also had given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of students from a variety of backgrounds.

I have 4 years of experience with one on one tutoring, first as a tutor for the UCL academy and now as a private tutor. These one on one sessions allow complete adaptation of the lessons to match a students needs in a way thats not possible in a classroom. The unique talents of each student never cease to impress me, adapting my teaching to different learning styles is a challenge that never gets old.

I strongly believe in an understanding based approach to learning, as apposed to just learning facts. This builds a much more intuitive appreciation of the subject, imparting academic skills that will help with future learning and later life. This is backed up with exam technique and regular practice, to ensure the best results are achieved.

I believe that my passion for education and my hundreds of hours of experience across a huge variety of teaching environments make me well equipped to ensure any learner reaches their full potential. If you are looking for a friendly, reliable tutor who is passionate about a child's success, please drop me a message!

A Level Physics - Brilliant tutor

Written by Adam M
Being a ucl uni student Neythen has good subject knowledge and very good mathematical ability. His comprehension of problems is also as good as you'd expect from a ucl student and so, when working through difficult questions, you'll find he explains the solutions very well.
Sessions with Neythen are also very efficient, we always get through lots of material.
Finally, when asked questions that reside outside of the syllabus, when he doesn't know the answer he provides insightful speculations to help me get my mind across the topic rather than give incorrect information.
Haven't taken my exams yet.

Great Maths tutor.

From the word go Neythen was positive re our son's difficulty with learning and taking in etc.
He worked with him tirelessly and super effectively, was 100% reliable and my son got on with him extremely well, to the point where he was wanting to do further maths so he could continue to see Neythen!!
Neythen was able to give us renewed confidence and faith when at school things were really really difficult.
