About Ned
Hello, I am a DPhil Student in Probability Theory at the University of Oxford and a graduate from Imperial College London with a first-class MSci Mathematics degree. I have been tutoring since 2012 and love teaching.
As a GCSE/A-level/IB tutor, I am lucky that I have both the experience of being a student in the current system of exams but also plenty of experience tutoring for them.
These skills allow me to better understand the root of students requirements and so adapt my teaching to best suit them. I enjoy teaching in general but it is for this reason I find one-on-one teaching an incredibly fulfilling activity. Sciences and maths are often about considering different angles on problems, motivated by your intuition, and I enjoy work with my students because they also help me to understand familiar topics in new ways.
As a degree-level Mathematics tutor, I enjoy taking on more challenging mathematics in collaboration with my students. Solving problems at this level is often less straightforward even for research mathematicians and the enjoyment of working with complex ideas towards solutions with others is exactly the reason why I became a researcher.
In higher mathematics, I specialise in analysis, geometry (both analytic and topological) and probability theory. I have additional experience in various parts of abstract algebra, game theory, mathematical logic.
Finally, I also love reading, theatre and art and I am a writer and photographer. Most of all, I love talking to enthusiastic people about the things they love.

Perfect! Outstanding Maths Tutor
As a Second Year Undergraduate Maths student, I was struggling with my modules. Within 1 week of lessons, Ned completely transformed my grade. As a result, my grade increased from a Third to an Upper Second class! I was extremely pleased with my result, and couldn’t have been happier. Due to Ned’s guidance and support, he taught me how to face challenging questions in a much easier, methodical way. I really enjoyed Ned’s positive and enthusiastic attitude as a Tutor, and his patience for ensuring I was happy with the content covered. I couldn’t recommend a better Maths Tutor, Thank you Ned!

Outcome : Upper Second Class (2:1) for BSc Mathematics ModulesPerfect! Undergraduate Mathematics Tutoring
I failed 3 of my first year exams in my degree last year (BSc in Mathematics). In 10 sessions Ned turned my fails (all below 40%) into 2 firsts and a 2:1 (78%, 76%, 63%). There is absolutely no way I could've hoped to have achieved the results I did without Ned's tuition and, as ever, he made the sessions very enjoyable and helped me wrap my head around the content. Throughout both my A-Levels and now degree Ned's been a fantastic tutor and I couldn't have asked for any more from him. I couldn't imagine a tutor I could recommend more.

Outcome : 2 Firsts and a 2:1 (BSc Mathematics modules)Perfect! Great tutor
Ned has been a great tutor all year, I went from a B at AS Level to an A* at A2. He knows the new Physics syllabus very well and his explanations and diagrams help you to understand each concept thoroughly. (sometimes he brings chocolate which is always a bonus on a Saturday morning)
Subject : Physics
Outcome : A* Physics A levelPerfect! Outstanding tutor
Ned has been an incredible tutor from our first lesson to our last. Not only has he always demonstrated how suitable he is to teaching both my maths and further maths A level courses, but he's been very friendly and personable, something I've found to be vital in creating a good working environment. He's always punctual and, despite our lessons always being over Skype and not face to face, he was always able to ensure I fully understood each concept we covered before we moved on. If I was ever late to a lesson he would always add time on to the end to make sure that nothing was missed and always offered any support I needed, especially in my further maths course which I studied outside of school. I can't thank him enough for all the help he's given me this year and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tutor at any level.
Outcome : Excellent tutor all yearPerfect! Subject : Physics

By far one of the best Maths tutors! Within just a few weeks of lessons I felt much more confident in my Maths content, an excellent tutor and I would 11/10 recommend!
I cannot recommend Ned highly enough. He is clearly passionate about maths and tutoring and his diligence and enthusiasm is really infectious. Ned is punctual and well organised. He always gives more than the allocated time and has been unbelievably supportive of my son who missed a lot of his Alevel maths course due to illness. Thank you Ned!
Excellent, friendly and professional tutoring. Very familiar with the maths A Level course, and explains relevant concepts very well and intuitively. 10/10 would recommend to anyone studying in preparation for A Levels (or even above).
Good Job, Ned!
