Maths is an interesting subject. Lets teach it that way.
Having researched neuroscience and now working at a publishing start-up, I have used maths in the real world and done over 500 hours of tutoring. Teaching students a *way of thinking* is what’s important in maths – not just memorizing steps to get answers. That’s boring, and ends up being more work than understanding things properly.
I teach real-world problems which are taken from research papers or actual choices businesses and governments have had to make. These don’t require advanced maths, in fact secondary school students can do them. My students do.
I teach using interesting questions, even though they still get asked boring ones in exams. This helps motivate students to learn concepts, and ultimately GET BETTER RESULTS.
