Summer holiday tuition available - KS2 Maths & English

I hold a First Class honours degree in Geophysics (BSc) from University College London. I love tutoring and take great joy in being able to inspire my students to love learning and develop a passion for their subject, in a fun and friendly environment.

I teach Maths and English at KS1 and KS2 level.

I aim to create a fun and engaging learning environment in which to increase a student’s confidence and enthusiasm for their subject. The most important aspect of my tutor-student dynamic is that the student feels they are in a safe and open minded environment, where they are free to ask questions and express their concerns and confusions confidently, and without fear of judgement.

Maths tutoring:

I like to use practical examples to help children to grasp difficult concepts, and I think it is crucial to ensure that the foundation maths is strong in order to attack more difficult problems.

I will try a variety of different methods and explanations to help a child understand, as no child is the same and all children learn and see the world differently. I too have struggled to grasp mathematical concepts in the past, and appreciate how frustrating and demoralising it can be when your peers grasp something much more quickly and easily than you.

English tutoring:

As a child I struggled with English and only began to flourish at senior school thanks to a great teacher, so I really know how it feels to struggle with spelling, punctuation and grammar; to hate reading; and to be completely stumped when asked to complete a piece of creative writing!

I believe the value of methodical thinking is often overlooked when teaching English which, for children for whom English does not come naturally, creates a minefield of information which feels completely unnavigable. I have a plethora of tips, tricks and methods which I use to help children develop their vocabulary and creative thinking, and enable them to break down issues with spelling, punctuation and grammar into problems which become more manageable.

I have been tutoring children in preparation for the 11+ exams for the last two years. All children have been successfully accepted into their school of choice. I also have experience tutoring younger children, including KS1, giving them general support in Maths and English.

Brilliant tutor

Natasha has been tutoring our son for about 3 months to prepare him for the 11+ (independent sector). She connects brilliantly with him, and he really wants to do his best when working with her.
She has taught him some techniques to demystify creative writing, and his writing has improved from' just above average' to a consistently high performance. It's like he has cracked the code for strong writing, and his school teacher has also commented on the impressive improvement!
Moreover, Natasha is reliable, well-prepared, punctual, and flexible. She is down-to-earth, genuine, and a pleasure to be around!
11 Plus
