About Naomi
First of all, thank you for viewing my profile - I hope the information below will enable you to make an informed decision as to whether I am the tutor to assist you in reaching your goals.
Tutoring and Mentoring Background: Prior to university I was a mentor to three students studying for their GCSEs. The focus was on Mathematics. During this time I prioritised setting manageable and realistic tasks that enabled the student to maximise their potential. This included understanding fundamentals, before applying these to past exam papers – beginning early in the year to ensure each was comfortable by the time exam season approached. In terms of business and sociology, the focus for the student is on how to concentrate the vast amounts of information (that the student is required to understand) into a concise, clear and focused work piece.
I have also worked as a mentor in several positions. At university, the position was as a peer mentor to first year students. Through listening to the issues they were struggling with, understanding what they wanted to achieve, and drawing upon my own experience, I was able help those with difficulties in confidence, and fear of i.e. public speaking. Similarly, when I was working for a financial institution I worked as a mentor at a local school, whereby I helped students that are 13-14 years old with issues they were facing: both academically and socially related.
Academic Background: For my secondary school and sixth form education I went to Fortismere School in Muswell Hill (North London). I have three A Levels in Sociology (A*), Mathematics (B) and Photography (B), and received 9 passes for GCSEs, including Mathematics (A) and English Literature (A). I graduated from Newcastle University in 2017 with a First-Class degree in Business Management (BA Hons).
Professional Background: As part of my studies at university, I opted to apply for a one year work placement – this was at Grant Thornton and I worked as an Audit Associate. I have also completed work experience at Winkworth Estate Agents, Lloyds Banking Group, and RMP Enterprise. Most recently, I worked for Moody’s Investors Service in Canary Wharf as an Associate Analyst. Currently, I am on a mentoring scheme with the goal of becoming a professional trader.
