About Matthew
I am a qualified (QTS) Mathematics & Physics teacher, having trained at a leading independent school. I am a BSc (Hons) Physics graduate of Bristol University, with 8 years private tutoring experience at GCSE and A Level.
It has been so rewarding to see my tutoring service grow in both breadth of subjects and number of students (60+ to date).
I have taken on students all around the world e.g Moscow and Singapore.
I was a postgraduate at Cambridge University (Jesus College), with the option to undertake a funded PhD.
I am both a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS), and Member of Institute of Physics (MInstP).
I offer a discount for block booking of 5 sessions.
Please note that as we approach exam's, my availability quickly diminishes.
In addition to the academic content of sessions I persist in nurturing deep inquisitiveness. This makes the difference between just being an excellent student, and an excellent scientist/mathematician.
I have various scientific/mathematical teaching aides such as: a specialist graphical/data program, chemistry molecular model set, various physics instruments etc.

Academically rigorous tutorials, taught from first principles. I am a life-long boffin myself, and try to convey my enthusiasm for science/maths. My students regularly comment that it makes the tutorials very fulfilling. It's an unfortunate reality that a large number of A Level classroom teacher are not subject specialists (ie they lack Maths or Physics degrees, let alone advanced study in these areas). Therefore, I am able to draw on my extensive experience to provide a very thorough service.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
We are delighted with the support Matthew has offered our sons; as an A level physics tutor and GCSE maths tutor. He has been working with our family for six months, and Seb is feeling increasing confident with Year 13 physics material which was causing him some difficulties in Year 12. We have found Matthew to be professional, reliable and extremely approachable. He has great communication skills and offers honest feedback. Matthew has provided both in-person and on line tutoring. I would have no hesitation in recommending his services to others.
Matthew is a brilliant, friendly tutor. He always pushes me to ask questions and explore beyond my A-Level curriculum, helping me develop skills in scientific methods. He has made the effort to get to know me and the ways in which I learn, as well as understanding my aims for the future. He supports me with any issues I may have in school and covers the topics I feel I want help with most. Matthew ensures I build a strong basis for my knowledge, enabling me to understand concepts in much greater depth, as well as helping me make links with my other subjects and between different topics.
Matthew was a student in my sixth form and achieved astounding A level results in Maths and Science. After initially working in industry he came to realise he wanted a more fulfilling career. He has been working as a private tutor and in September starts his teacher training within a school. To prepare for this role he has been doing voluntary teaching in our school. As is always the case with Matthew this work was to the highest standard. He is a perfectionist in every area of his professional life.
