About Mary

I am a retired English Teacher (Secondary Level, therefore primarily focused on KS3 & KS4 although with a working knowledge of the KS2 coverage and requirements as well). I currently work as a GCSE Examiner for AQA, meaning I am totally up to date with all the recent syllabus changes introduced in 2015. This year I marked the Paper 2 (modern texts) Literature exam, but I have previously marked both Paper 1 (Shakespeare & 19th century novel) and the Language Paper so I am not narrowly specialised!
I enjoy tutoring on a one-to-one or small group basis, either in my own home (in Oxted) or by visiting students' homes within a limited radius of Oxted, or online. I am enthusiastic, empathetic, and an excellent motivator who can help inspire confidence in those who maybe feel that English is not their strongest subject.
