My name is Martina and I'm originally from Italy. I am a qualified secondary school teacher and I work full time as French teacher in a secondary school in East London.
In 2015 I gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of East London and qualified as a Modern Languages teacher in the UK. Previous to that I have worked as an Italian teacher in an International school in Italy and taught Italian to foreign students of different backgrounds.
In 2014 I was the recipient of a scholarship that enabled me to go to Australia and work as an Italian language assistant in a secondary school in the state of Victoria for one year. My aim while in Australia was to show students how languages can overcome distances and cultural barriers, as well as how many fantastic job opportunities speaking another language can offer.
Not only I am a native speaker of Italian but I also hold a Master's degree in French. As a student at university I took part in the Erasmus program and had the opportunity to live in Paris and study at the prestigious Sorbonne University for one year. During this period I have attended intensive courses of French linguistics and literature, which enabled me to gain the required competence and confidence to be able to teach French up to A levels.
I consider my-self a very reliable, patient and well-organised teacher.
I can plan and deliver personalised and differentiated lessons according to my students' needs and I like to differentiate activities to keep a high level of engagement during lessons. I use a range of learning strategies and cultural references to ensure that my lessons are motivating and stimulating. I always make sure my students have a clear understanding of the grammar and meta-linguistic foundation they will need in the future to develop their speaking skills and feel more confident when practicing a foreign languages.
I am usually available in the evenings between 5 and 7pm.
I look forward to meeting and helping you practicing a beautiful language!
