About Martin

Martin Kennedy - Relaxed student-centred learning

Since completing a PGCE (maths with numeracy) as a mature student at the Institute of Education UCL in 2013 I have taught GCSE and pre-GCSE mathematics at the Working Men's College, City of Islington College, Community Education Lewisham, South Thames College and Westmnster Adult education Services gaining above average exam results in all of them. Prior to this I was a partner in a business importing cane furniture from India and ran my own music publishing business negotiating copyrights with record companies and publishers in the Far East and Europe. I have also worked occasionally as an actor and a journalist. I am particularly empathetic with adults returning to education having done this myself and being from a creative background I like to teach in a relaxed and informal manner.

Reference for Martin Kennedy

Written by Demetrios H
Martin worked with me as a trainee maths teacher gaining experience practicing in an E3 maths class for adults. He was punctual and dedicated. Martin was always keen and volunteered for various tasks and was a good team member within the small group of trainee teachers.
He prepared well, with accurately written Lesson Plans and produced his own resources which were sophisticated and appropriate for the task.
He had a relaxed style of delivery and his pace was just right and as a result students benefited. During class work, Martin circulated and supported students who were struggling. He has a good grasp of differentiation.
I am sure Martin would prove be an asset in any teaching environment
Martin successfully completed the teaching training course.
