About Mark
Hello there! I am currently a final year medical student at University College London, due to qualify with distinction. I recently received a first class honours BSc in Medical Sciences with Orthopaedic Science, for which I studied at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, and I studied for A-levels at The Latymer School, Edmonton.
I have tutored a fair number of students in the past, with ages ranging from 5 to 13, though I was also a GCSE chemistry mentor at my secondary school. My primary experience is in tutoring sciences and maths, though I have previously tutored written English at the 13+ independent school examination level. I am also a fluent speaker of Russian, and have had great success helping to prepare students for listening and speaking exams. My aim is to always make my students feel at ease during our lessons, and to let them dictate the pace and content of the process, allowing them to feel more confident with the things they are least confident about.
I have been greatly involved with music for a long time now, and have had lessons on piano and viola, and play to at least a Grade 8 standard on both (I do hold an ABRSM piano Grade 8). I am also an experienced performer, playing chamber music as well as orchestral music. In addition, I am a semi-professional bass-baritone, and have given many concerts both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble. I currently study singing with Robert Rice. I have had great success teaching piano in the past, both to complete beginners and those who have already had some experience, and have a successful record in ABRSM examination entries.
I also have experience in preparing students for admissions tests, both the younger groups preparing for the 11+ state school exams and the 13+ independent school exams, as well as medical school entrance tests. I am also able to provide advice and coaching on medical personal statements and interviews.
My experience in teaching has been mostly with children and young adults, and I spent several years working regularly with children as a Cub Scout leader. I hold a current, clear DBS check.

We were very pleased with Mark's tutoring of our two children. We found Mark to be professional, trustworthy and reliable. We would not hesitate to recommend him.
Mark taught my son music (piano) and iGCSE Biology.
My son enjoyed the lessons, they were well planned, concise and the learning was well paced. This kept my son engaged and excited as he was always learning something new. My son went on to achieve a distinction in his grade exam.
I recommend mark.View more recommendations
