Mariana graduated from the IB Diploma Programme at ACS Egham International School in May 2014, where she made excellent academic progress. She is now a student at Royal Holloway, University of London, where she is studying Psychology.
During her time at ACS Egham, Mariana was described by her teachers as a mature, gifted student who produced assignments of the highest quality. She was different than most students in that she was motivated first and foremost by her intense intellectual curiosity. She demonstrated highly developed analytical skills, and her insightful contributions to class discussions and debates set her apart from her peers. Mariana's academic ability coupled with her insightful and analytical nature made her an ideal candidate for an undergraduate course in psychology.
Mariana was a valued member of the class, actively participating, and often displaying leadership qualities. An effective learner, Mariana demonstrated high quality work consistently throughout the year, acting on feedback and building on her reflections to develop her studies and performance. She was an open-minded, compassionate and hard-working student who worked well with others.
Mariana was involved in several service projects, demonstrating her sincere concern for others. She was a member of the ACS Great Ormond Street Hospital charity, helping to raise money as well as being the designated photographer for charity-related events. She also volunteered at a school in Argentina, where she worked with adolescents experiencing a range of behavioural problems. It is this experience that reinforced her passion for psychology.
Mariana has lived in four countries, including Argentina, Mexico, Hong Kong and England, contributing to her open-minded attitude, essential when understanding the perspective of others. She is fluent in both Spanish and English.
