About Maeve
“Excellent”, “Warm” and “Patient” in the words of my former students. As a teacher I am committed, organised and enthusiastic. I am keen to build my students' confidence in their chosen subject and to try and provide some context to the curriculum which can seem at times unconnected and memory-intensive. Lessons with me will be flexible, we can stick to a plan for the term or you can come to me with whatever you are particularly struggling with on the day.
About me: I am a qualified Science and Chemistry A level teacher working at an 'Outstanding' school in North London. I hold a PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College London, have 2 Masters Degrees in Chemistry and over seven years of experience one-to-one tutoring A level Chemistry, GCSE Maths and Chemistry and KS3 Maths and Science through this site.

Perfect! Maeve is great! She is tutoring Chemistry to my daughter
Maeve has put my daughter at ease and is easy to talk to. She is covering areas that my daughter has covered previously to get a feel for her difficulties.
Subject : ChemistryPerfect! An excellent tutor with a warm personality
Maeve tutored both my daughters in Chemistry and Mathematics, respectively. She is extremly well qualified and reliable as well as being patient and a great communicator. Maeve got on very well with the girls and they looked forward to sessions with her. During lessons, Maeve kept up the pace and challenge but in a way that my children responded and rose to. All in all, an excellent tutor with whom we enjoyed working very much.
Subject : Maths
Outcome : Maeve broadened our girls' understanding of their subjects considerably and helped to improve their grades.- Maeve's response :Thank you Jay! I really enjoyed teaching them too!

My daughter struggled with Maths until Maeve became her Tutor. It speaks for itself that she achieved an A* in GCSE Maths. Maeve is flexible in her approach and patient, building confidence with knowledge.
I supervised Maeve Kavanagh during her Masters in Green Chemistry at Imperial College. She showed herself to be an engaged and hard-working student with a genuine interest in her Masters project, the subject matter of which was highly multi-disciplinary. Maeve is a motivated student, who is able to collate, analyse and present information in a clear and precise manner. Moreover she is conscientious and pays close attention to detail. Overall I was really impressed with both the output and quality of Maeve’s work over the course of the year.
Maeve manages her time very efficiently and was always well organised and prepared for our meetings. She is able to quickly grasp new techniques, and when confronted with a problem, is able to think creatively and commit the hours needed to solve it.
Maeve was happy to take my direction but also had the initiative to work well independently which demonstrated her strong problem solving ability, which is inherent in the nature of her subject. She has an enthusiastic, confident, personable and easy-going manner that would lend itself well to tutoring.
During the year Maeve also volunteered as a Maths tutor in a secondary school once a week with the Schools Plus programme which she seems to have enjoyed a great deal.
Maeve has been a pleasure to work with over the last year. She will no doubt be an effective and caring tutor based on her strong work ethic and keen interest in chemistry.View more recommendations
