About Madeleine

Prize-winning Cambridge student giving UCAS/History/English

I am a History student at the University of Cambridge offering private tuition that can be tailored to fit your particular needs.

My three main areas of teaching are:

1. I am offering summer courses in University admissions, particularly geared towards students applying for courses in Humanities (History, Law, Politics, Classics) and the Arts (languages, English literature/language) involving:
- assistance and guidance in writing your personal statement
- guidance in completing the UCAS online application system
- if required, advice and discussion over which courses and universities my be most appropriate for you
- preparation for any admissions tests or interviews that you may be required to complete
- any other assistance with UCAS that you may require.

We can arrange these classes to suit your particular needs: whether that is one or two hours of discussion, or whether it is regular sessions and more involvement from me in your application process. During this time, you can also send me drafts of personal statements or other work which I will annotate and we will then discuss in meticulous detail in the next session. My goal is to help you to complete the best application possible and to get you that University offer or interview!

2. I also offer private tuition for History, Religious Studies, Latin and English at all levels (primary school, Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS level and A level). This tuition will work around your particular needs, whether you require me to teach you certain modules or whether you simply need assistance with homework or extra explanation of key topics, or help with essays and coursework.

3. I offer private lessons teaching English as a second language. This can be done to all levels, whether you are a beginner needing help with the basics, or whether you speak English to a high level and need help polishing the more complex grammar and idiom. These lessons can be taught to adults or children and will be catered to fit each age group. As one of four children and with my teenage years spent babysitting and childminding, I have plenty of experience of taking care of children and explaining topics in a way that is geared towards their level of understanding. Some of the children that I have looked after have not been EMT (English Mother Tongue) and part of my role has been to introduce English speaking into their lives. For children, classes can involve games, songs, reading together and other 'fun' methods to help them absorb English, and for adults, we can discuss together your preferred methods of learning, whether it is through conversation, or being specifically taught certain grammar points etc.

As you will be able to see from my grades transcripts, I have always been a high-achieving student, and throughout my education I have refined my skills of essay-writing, exam revision and self-teaching. It would be my pleasure to pass on what I have learned to you and to give you the tools to succeed in your exams, coursework and applications!
If you think that something I am offering could be what you are looking for, please feel free to write me a message and we can discuss your requirements! I am really looking forward to hearing from you!
