Hi, my name is Lynn and I specialise in biology tutoring at AS and A level. I obtained my first degree in Medical Cell Biology (first class honours) and my PhD in Immunology from The University of Liverpool. I then worked for twelve years as a postdoctoral research scientist at a number of academic and research institutions, namely The University of Liverpool, The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, The Institute of Child Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Edward Jenner Institute for Vaccine Research. I have fourteen published papers in national and international science journals. I left academic science in 2007 to bring up my family and concentrate on tutoring. I am friendly, easygoing, and infinitely patient. Above all I am truly passionate about biology and always aim to pass on my enthusiasm to those I teach.
I have attended University-run lecturing courses and during my research career I regularly tutored both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have given university lectures and also designed and run practical modules at postgraduate level. I have been tutoring A level biology for seven years (AQA and Edexcel).
My аim with AS аnd A2 level students is tо tо prоvide а thоrоugh understаnding оf а subject аreа аnd impоrtаntly tо put this intо cоntext аnd tо enthuse а student аbоut `reаl science` rаther thаn merely wоrds in а textbооk. Once а student fully understаnds а tоpic we cаn mоve оntо prаctice exаm questiоns аnd exаm technique.
I have know Lynn for more than 20 years. She was a very successful PhD student in my laboratory and subsequently an excellent Research Assistant. I know her to be honest, trustworthy, diligent and effective and recommend her most highly.
