About Lucy
My name is Lucy, I'm a 21 year old Geography student at The University of Manchester. I'm currently Chair of the University's WaterAid society - as I'm highly interested in charity work as a result of studying development at University.
I've got a solid background in Geography (through my degree, of which I am working towards achieving a first), as well as a history of excellent grades at both GCSE and A-Level in English Literature and English Language.
As a human Geography student, I have a complex understanding of development studies, human geography as a whole, as well as aspects of sociology, politics and philosophy - as this is also included in my studies. I also have an extensive background understanding of physical geography and earth environmental studies as a result of studying this pre-University and during my first year.
I really enjoy learning through speaking ideas through - that's how I feel that I learn the best, and so I hope to try this approach with my students, alongside whichever methods also suit their learning-style.
I hope to make the study sessions fun and engaging, whilst also ensuring that the student completely understands the topics we discuss.

This built on my existing skills as prefect in my final year at high school, which required great responsibility to assist teaching staff in organising students and maintaining high standards of behaviour within the school.
In charge of leading the University of Manchester's WaterAid society. As chair, I am the main point of contact with WaterAid, responsible for receiving deliveries, liaising feedback & instructing the committee and team members for successful fundraising. We also focus on achieving successful collaboration with the ‘Yoga4Water’, ’Dance4Water' and ‘Workout4Water’ societies, to further raise awareness and fundraise for WaterAid through a series of events. Through instructing this team we plan on developing into a highly successful, popular and prosperous fundraising society through sponsorships and charity partnerships by networking with other university societies.

To Whom It May Concern
I'm writing to recommend Lucy Ambler for the tutor role. I was Lucy’s team leader for the 3 months we volunteered in Uganda, with Balloon Ventures Entrepreneurship programme.
Lucy was able to Immerse herself into East African life, staying with a host family, experiencing a new culture and working side by side with teams of local volunteers and micro-entrepreneurs with ease.
Lucy was part of a team that delivered excellent training to local entrepreneurs on topics like; customer segments, financial record keeping, business model innovation and marketing. Lucy always ensured to adjust the training materials to the needs of the entrepreneurs, as some did struggle with English and grasping the financial aspects of the business model.
She always had great respect for other people and their cultures, with a non-judgemental approach. As a result, she developed great working relationships with fellow volunteers and the local community.
Lucy was a positive and valued member of the team. She had good problem-solving skills and was able to be inventive with limited resources and follow through on difficult tasks.
I highly recommend Lucy as she would be an asset to any organization.
Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
