About Louise
After 20 successful years in teaching A level Art subjects in outstanding Art departments and lecturing in Art at East Sussex University Campus Hastings I continue to teach fine art, printmaking and photography on a one to one basis in my fully equipped mixed media studio at The Titanic Arts Club in St Leonards, East Sussex. My lovely studio rooms comprise of screen printing, etching and photography studio facilities. There are well lit drawing and painting areas as the studios and very large windows directly overlooking the sea! .
I am an exhibiting artist as well as an artist in residence. I hold a current DBS
My students particularly enjoy the short achievable creative tasks and exciting activities I provide which they say inspires and ignites their creativity. I have many teaching resources which demonstrate effects and techniques in a quick and accessible way as well as a wealth of examples of artists case studies to share. As a mixed media artist I am able to pass on secrets which accelerate practical learning and problem solving. Each session involves showing and demonstrating how to make samples and a re cap on how to repeat successful (often outstanding) results.

My 15 year old daughter Maya studied with Louise almost weekly for about 6 months and she provided the help , guidance and nurturing of my daughters talents that I had been hoping for .
Maya was home educated at the time and really needed some direction and a confidence boost . Louise managed to provide this almost immediately and so much more .
She is a fun , lively , engaging and positive woman and also a wonderful artist . Louise is very versatile in her lesson plans and can be as broad or specific a you like . Maya went from just general art lessons , to more of a specific fashion portfolio building and has produced an amazing set of work . Louise really knows how to draw the talent out of people . I am so grateful to her.I am just contacting you to write a reference for Louise Witham, art teacher. I am 16 and I was one of her students, I studied with her for about half a year, on a weekly basis and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with her.
She has a way to use any type of material and make it into something, she defiantly brought me outside of the box.
She's also very encouraging e.g- when I didn't particularly like something I created, she made me feel as thought it was great by the end of the lesson.
Although I do not study art at college I know my art skills benefited from going to her lessons. When I do drawings or paintings I definitely take into consideration what techniques she had taught me.
Overall I think she is a magnificent teacherLouise tutored my daughter during her A Level years for both Art and Graphic Design. She then worked with her on her portfolio and University application process during her Gap Year. She was an invaluable source of support at a time when my daughter was very low emotionally and struggling with the pressures of A Levels. She tailored sessions to Asha's interests and enthusiasm and put huge effort into making their time together both valid and enjoyable. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
My daughter was applying for a BTEC in Art and Design after a difficult time at school which had really knocked her confidence. Not only did Louise boost her confidence enormously and bring out the absolute best in her artistic abilities, but my daughter was accepted onto an art foundation course, considerably higher than our initial ambition of a BTEC! Louise is a lovely, warm person too. I highly recommend her.
