About Lauren
I gained my fluency in Spanish from living and attending school in Barcelona, Spain and I am now an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto pursuing a minor in Spanish and Portuguese.
I have experience with all levels of Spanish students, from beginner to university, and I tailor my lessons to each person’s needs. Therefore, if you would like to take an immersive approach to learning the language and have the lessons entirely in Spanish, we can do that. If you want to learn about the intricacies of Spanish grammar, or if you just want to practice speaking, with an emphasis on pronunciation to communicate with Spanish speakers in your community, we can do that too.
I place a strong focus on my students maximising their learning potential in order to get the most out of their lessons with me. I like to set goals with my students so that they can track their progress and see how far they have come and what they are working towards.
I also have experience preparing students for GCSE, and A-level examinations so I know what the examiners are looking for in all areas of the examination. Although you are learning the language to take a daunting exam, I think it is important that you also learn to love the language and appreciate the culture. Therefore, I will make sure to incorporate some of the more fun parts of Spanish because I know from first-hand experience that it makes a huge difference in how you experience the language.
Taking into account the situation with COVID-19, I am able to conduct my lessons entirely on Zoom or Skype. I use the screen share tool to share the PowerPoint I have created for the lesson in order to replicate the experience of in-person teaching.

Lauren helped me with my university level Spanish course not only by re-enforcing proper Spanish grammar, but also by encouraging social speaking and fluidity, which really helped with overall understanding and appreciation for the language. She is attentive, thorough and will definitely make sure you know Spanish! She is an excellent tutor, I highly recommend.
Lauren pays very close attention to detail throughout all of the lessons. Despite the 9 hr time difference between us she is always willing to work with me. Since I live in California I have always been interested in learning Spanish, but found the Spanish in school is tedious and boring. Lauren was able to re kindle my joy of learning this language and I look foward to many more lessons with her.
