About Kirsty
I have over 10 years of professional singing experience and have been teaching as much as possible during that time. I am a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, leaving in 2015 with a distinction and dipRAM for excellence in performance. I trained classically, getting to grips with the fundamentals of healthy singing technique and this forms the basis of my lessons. I generally like to start with a gentle physical warm-up to help release any tension, followed by some vocal exercises to get the voice working, we'll then move on to a song of your choice (I am not limited to the classical genre), sing it through, and then work through sections together, finding ways to enhance the song through technique, interpretation and performance.
Singing is a very personal experience and it's always quite nerve-wracking to sing in front of people. I understand the feeling completely and always do everything I can to make my students feel comfortable in our lessons. One of the most important things about singing is having self-confidence and that is something we'll always be looking to build.
I have experience of teaching both adults and children so whether you're looking for beginner's lessons to gain more confidence in using your voice or have some previous experience and would like to increase your technical or performance skills, I would be thrilled to hear from you.
I'm based in South East London and am very happy to travel to you if you have a piano or keyboard at home.
