About Kirsty

Friendly, patient French graduate tutoring all abilities

Hello! I am a French graduate from Edinburgh and have worked in France for the past two years with various NGOs as an interpreter and team leader. I helped set up a language workshop project to teach French and English to asylum seekers and worked with both French and British teacher trainers to develop our curriculum.

I love sharing my excitement in french language and culture and have experience teaching students from a diverse range of abilities and backgrounds, from age 4 to 65+.

My first teaching experience was in a nursery in Kilmacolm when I was 17 and since then I have taught French and English to school and university students in Ghana and Senegal, intensive 1-on-1 language classes with asylum seekers in Europe and informal beginner workshops for 20+ students. This range of experience has shown me how important it is to adapt teaching methods to suit different students with different aims and abilities - we are all unique and we must reflect this when trying to engage with others!

My main interests are in politics and mid-20th century French literature and philosophy and in my free time I enjoy rock climbing, reading and I am currently learning Arabic.

I am available 7 days a week so please feel free to contact me to arrange a suitable time!

Kirsty was a great all-rounder at University (intelligent, hard-working, committed, and enthusiastic). I think her ability to get on well with others and to organise the tasks in hand will be great assets in her teaching. She has excellent written and oral communication skills, and lots of stories about her experiences living in different parts of the world.
